In Nairobi, Kenya and Somalia inked a set of crucial agreements on Monday, spanning political consultations, education, defense, foreign affairs, security, economy, trade, and social services. The signing, which took place in Nairobi during the third session of the Somalia-Kenya Joint Commission for Cooperation (JCC), represents a significant stride in bolstering the two nations’ bilateral ties.
Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, and Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ahmed Moalin Fiqi, highlighted a new chapter of collaboration. They hailed the agreements as proof of a refreshed commitment to advancing stability, prosperity, and social progress, reflecting shared aspirations for advancement and mutual gain.

Mudavadi remarked that the agreements are intended to strengthen cooperation for the mutual welfare of the populations of both countries. “The agreement was achieved thanks to the diligent work of our technical experts who resolved issues cordially,” Mudavadi emphasized, highlighting the special bond between the neighboring nations, bolstered by a longstanding and sturdy partnership.
Ahmed Moalin Fiqi outlined further endeavors by both countries to boost collaboration in security and healthcare capacity building, including upskilling health professionals and training law enforcement officers. Fiqi emphasized that these bilateral relations are guided by good intentions and a resolve to collaborate in expanding and intensifying the breadth of their ties.
