Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Convenes with Somalia’s Deputy Prime Minister

During a recent visit to Gambia, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia Salah Ahmed Jama. The two officials discussed their satisfaction with the current level of cooperation in international organizations like the UN, Non-Aligned Movement, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Minister Bayramov highlighted Azerbaijan’s efforts to strengthen ties with African nations during its chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement. The importance of mutual support for candidates and initiatives within these organizations was stressed.

They also explored the potential for increased bilateral trade, economic cooperation, and collaboration in alternative energy, education, and humanitarian efforts. They praised the involvement of Somali students in Azerbaijan’s scholarship program for OIC countries.

The upcoming 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change hosted by Azerbaijan was seen as a valuable opportunity for further cooperation. The meeting touched on various other bilateral and regional matters of common interest.
