Sarina Wiegman has insisted the door will not be closed on Hannah Hampton, regardless of the goalkeeper not being included in an England squad since Euro 2022 and being sacked by Aston Villa boss Carla Ward following an unspecified incident.
Hampton was given his England debut by Wiegman in February and understudyed Mary Earps on the European Championships, alongside Ellie Roebuck. However, she has not been chosen within the three subsequent squads after the Euros, with Sandy MacIver known as up in her place. MacIver has not performed a minute within the WSL for Manchester City this season.
After being declared match for her aspect’s journey to Chelsea on Sunday, Ward opted to depart the 21-year-old out of the squad “in the best interests of the team” resulting from an incident that occurred on Saturday.
